Vessel – Spalted figured maple

Hollow vessel. Spalted figured maple. Botanical oil/wax blend. 5″ diam x 3.5″ tall.

The wood for this piece came from a tree in the South End of Burlington, VT. The curly figure that developed as the tree grew and the spalting that began after it fell combine for some amazing patterns. Both the shape and the dark coloration of the mouth of the vessel are the natural surface of the log.
